Giving to the NAE

Give Now

Turning Ideas into Reality

Targeted gifts from NAE members and friends have enabled the NAE to undertake projects on ‘Public Understanding of Engineering’, ‘Engineering in K-12 Education’ and ‘Technology for a Quieter America’, the ‘Century of Innovation’ book and the upcoming ‘Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium’. They have also enabled us to provide leadership and build momentum for broader National Academies studies such as Rising Above the Gathering Storm and America’s Energy Future. The NAE Independent Funds is our one truly discretionary resource. It provides seed money to explore and launch new initiatives and provides for continuity of our operations. It is critically necessary and ultimately is highly leveraged as externally funded studies and projects are developed. For instance, Independent Funds supported the pre-project planning for our highly successful ‘Grand Challenges for Engineering’ project funded by NSF, they supported the early planning and provided supplementary funding for the ‘Engineer of 2020’ project, also largely funded by NSF, and which was, based on book sales, one of the most successful projects ever conducted by the NAE, and they allowed creation at the NAE of the Center for Advancement of Scholarship on Engineering Education.

Please make an annual unrestricted gift to the NAE Independent Funds today through our secure online giving form or by mail. Additionally, we invite you to check out additional ways of giving to the NAE. Did you know that your gift may entitle you to membership in one of our giving societies, which recognize our donors' significant contributions to the NAE? Or that many corporations match charitable giving, doubling the effect of your NAE support? Find out if your corporation matches your gift today.
